AFTERTONES

Laughtertones

Dee in Ottawa has always been one of the Message Board's favourite personalities,
and a hilarious and unashamed re-writer of Janis' songs, as my introductory words
on the Aftertones home page have always acknowledged. You can find Dee's many
re-writes, and more, by following the like-minded link below.

Dee is not well these days, and, in early January 2003, shared the problem on Janis'
Message Board, quickly receiving many messages of sympathy and encouragement.

Here is mine.

          Laughtertones (for Dee)

.... to the music of Janis Ian's "Aftertones"

Sometimes you're stalling, so you say aloud
A stanza proud
A feelings-cloud
Sometimes the words are gainful, give good cheer,
Won't disappear, are crystal-clear

With all the extasy of laughtertones
Perceived at home
But not alone
And I remember strains of mellow Dee
He teases me - she's gender-free

Within the memories of our PC's lie
A phrase to sigh, a verse to cry
That measure out our lives in mocking tune
In jaded puns and rhyme immune

With all the extasy of laughtertones
Perceived at home
But not alone
And I remember strains of mellow Dee
He teases me - she's gender-free

And ooh, I'd like the sound
Of more deeversions, given time
I really can believe
In love and truth and sorrow
When you speak to me
